Kerry Feltenberg 2009/2010 Chapter President
First and most importantly - did we have a great fundraiser event or what!???!!! Saturday, March 27th we had over 100 members and guests attend our annual scholarship fundraising event held this year at Arizona Grand Resort. My gratitude and thanks for many months/weeks/days/hours of hard work and planning go to our Ways & Means Co-chairs, Valerie Flores, Nickel Lithographics and Pat Foote, Gust Rosenfeld. These ladies did a phenomenal job of planning not only a fun but also profitable event.

There are so many others to thank as well - our members for soliciting donations from friends, neighbors, colleagues and businesses in the community, for selling raffle tickets and attending the event. To Annette and Jim Hannah - for donating Jim's Happy Days band and for securing a special treat this year - Mel Rivers (bass singer from The Drifters and Gary Guzman who performed for us)! Thank you to Bonni and Darrell Olson from Jewels by G. Darrell Olson for donating our gorgeous Amethyst ring in the raffle and for the purses for the purse raffle. Thank you to member husbands - Mike Everding and Gary Burns, member grand kids Wesley and Sierra Fullmer and all of the EWI committee members who gave up their Saturday morning to decorate and finalize the details for the big event. Thanks to Heather Rykowski with Basket Brigade for her creative packaging and time that she gave at little cost. Thank you to Ben Arnold who always does photos for us at low or no cost. Thank you to Hank Flores and his daughter Adrienne who helped Val with so many things and were our Chinese Auction hosts! I am sure I forgot to mention someone - so please forgive me - Thank you to all of our supporters - those who remain unnamed in this newsletter - we cannot do it without all of your combined efforts. Final profit numbers will be forthcoming from the Ways & Means Chairs as soon as all is tallied.

Now that we have a successful fund-raising event past us - it is once again time to turn our focus on recruiting new members to join our wonderful Phoenix Chapter. Remember there is a prize at stake here - weekend for 2 at Arizona Grand Resort! We also have an opportunity to be recognized at the Corporate level for our recruitment efforts.

"1 FOR 1" CHAPTER MEMBERSHIP RECOGNITION

One of our goals for this year is that each member successfully recruits one new member firm. As this is a team effort, all Chapter representatives and their Executives, working to achieve the goal, we wanted to give special recognition to the Chapters who double their member firms during the period of October 1, 2009 through August 31, 2010. Winning Chapters will be notified prior to LCAM and will receive the following:
  • Special recognition at Opening Ceremonies at LCAM
  • Full page Chapter ad on the website
  • Feature article in the EWI Connect immediately following LCAM
  • Recognition certificate to all Executives of the Chapter
  • Professional photographer to memorialize the Chapter meeting celebration of the achievement
  • Attendance at the Chapter meeting celebration by 2009-2010 Corporate President
I believe we all have the ability to share the EWI passion with one other person!

"1 for 1" - WE CAN DO IT!

Please be sure to attend the April Scholarship and Executive Recognition Dinner to be held at Skye Restaurant on the 20th. Kris Erickson has done a wonderful job with our judges finding another amazing student - Kathryn (Katy) Biegel from Mountain View High School. You won't want to miss meeting Katy and celebrating her winning our Chapter Scholarship! Our speaker is Margaret Dugan, Deputy Superintendent of Public Instruction. We are also very fortunate to have Anna McCutcheon, EWI of San Diego and Corporate Membership Advisor to Phoenix, San Fernando Valley, and Pomona attending. Anna is with San Diego Theatres and will speak to us as well.

What a great time to be an EWI member - Have a great month!
