Arizona Public Service Company
On April 29, 1886, the Phoenix City Council passed Ordinance 53 granting Hutchlon Ohnick and franchise for electric and gas service, which marked the beginning of Arizona Public Service Company.

APS is Arizona's principal electric energy supplier. The company serves a rapidly growing market, meeting electricity needs in Arizona. APS operates and is a co-owner of the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, a primary source of electricity for the southwest region of the United States. The company operates two major coal-fired plants.
